LAYERS - Bend With The Wind
A series of workshops that work off of Shoshin. The Zen Japaneses Buddhist word for the beginners mind. There is a concept in Zen Buddhism known as shoshin, which means “beginner's mind.” Shoshin refers to the idea of letting go of your preconceptions and having an attitude of openness when studying a subject. When you are a true beginner, your mind is empty and open. Shoshin refers to adopting a mindset of humility and curiosity when approaching a subject — even if one is already at an advanced level.

when we begin to feel our way rather than see our way.

What happens when we stop trying to achieve perfection? When we meet ourselves as we truly are without the need to gain or intention to change. When we truly embrace the quality of patients we open ourselves up to listening without needing to seek, react, attach nor create anything beyond what the moment presents to us. While increasing awareness and attention to inner sensations and subtleties of one's sense of self through movement. When we feel safe enough to truly lean into the unknown, when we trust our bodies enough to give it to the unseen we open to our natural being and ways of moving that have been there all along.

This workshop will offer space to be submersed in the depths of the movement, lost in time. Expansive and impulsive to the moment while exploring the improviser in you. You will break through habitual patterns of movement and ways of thinking. Instead leave with a wider perspective on the power of your practise and how it can shift you from one state of mind and body to another, allowing room to heal if needed. Breaking down the parts of us that are stuck in time and allowing yourself to be free while igniting your power.
